Bio + tech = waste to fuel.

Our technology harnesses the power of naturally occurring biological processes, accelerated through clever engineering, to effectively "clean" non-recyclable waste streams.

This process transforms the waste into Solid Recovered Fuel (SRF).

Biostim blend

Our proprietary blend harnesses the power of over 20,000,000 naturally occurring bacteria to swiftly and effectively "clean" organic material from waste.

Through an aerobic rapid digestion process, these bacteria work tirelessly to break down contaminants, leaving behind only fully digested, non-organic matter. The process is completed in just 48-72 hours, compared to the traditional 16-week aerobic composting timeframe.

Engineering

Our XO technology is designed to withstand even the harshest operational environments. With a customisable system tailored to meet the specific needs of our customers, the heart of the process lies within the innovative XO unit.

Inside the chambers of the XO unit, aeration takes place, allowing oxygen to penetrate the waste and enabling bacteria to efficiently break down the biomass. As the waste progresses through each chamber, it undergoes a remarkable transformation, turning into a clean and fluffy material known as floc.

Solid Recovered Fuel (SRF)

The floc output from the Advetec XO process has undergone extensive testing and can be utilized as Solid Recovered Fuel (SRF). This alternative to coal can be employed by energy-intensive industries, such as cement or paper, to replace fossil fuels in their production processes.

Every tonne of SRF has a potential to replace 0.5 tonne of coal, be mined for chemicals, recycled further or used in gasification in clean energy production.

Affordable waste innovation

The Advetec XO system is designed to process mixed waste streams and produce a high-standard and consistent product. The output is similar to SRF produced by a Mechanical Biological Treatment (MBT) plant but with a smaller budgetary and physical footprint.

Our technology step-by-step

1

Waste stream testing

The XO technology is the only on-site solution which can handle a variety of waste streams including organic content.

We test our clients’ waste to ensure the most efficient bio process with a significant mass reduction.

2

Waste shredding

Waste goes through an industrial shredder.

This begins the process and ensures that a consistent and optimum particle size enters the biomass.

3

Heating and bacteria

The system initially heats the waste to kick start the bacterial activity.

Once optimum temperatures have been achieved the exothermic reaction self-generates the majority of the heat required. The heating system is then used to maintain the temperature above a minimum threshold for continual operation 24/7.

This creates resiliency in the system for periods of inactivity.

4

BioStim

Advetec's unique bio-stimulants are added automatically.

This ensures a robust and strong biomass is maintained and allows for the system to cope with the inevitable existence of biocides within the waste stream.

5

Rapid digestion

Each Advetec XO machine has multiple chambers.

These chambers are aerated to allow the aerobic process to flourish. The waste is indexed through the process, allowing for the addition of fresh waste at regular intervals.

6

Outcome: Solid Recovered Fuel (SRF)

The output material is called post process FLOC.

It typically has a moisture content less than 15% (with organic matter reduced significantly during digestion) and has an increased calorific value.

Depending on the waste stream and customers’ requirements, the FLOC can be used as SRF (Solid Recovered Fuel) or have further value extracted.

Inside the Advetec XO

Take a look inside the Advetec XO chamber, where the waste material is aerated by the paddles to facilitate the efficient action of Advetec's bacteria and bio-stimulants. This in-vessel aerobic digestion process converts waste into Solid Recovered Fuel, a process that typically takes between 48 and 72 hours.
