Major success with a new system
DALLAS, TEXAS, USA
ORGANIC FOOD WASTE AND MIXED WASTE
Theme park sees drastic reduction in waste with innovative approach.
When it comes to innovative ideas, dealing with trash isn't the first subject to come to mind.
However, Six Flags over Texas is finding major success with a new system.
Six Flags over Texas is a very modern theme park situated midway between Dallas and Fort Worth. The park is spread over 212 acres and has some of the world's best and latest thrill rides.
Like many other Theme Parks, Six Flags cater daily for hundreds of guests and as such has a vast choice of restaurants, food outlets and snack bars to ensure customers never go hungry or thirsty.
However, with this volume of customers and services it generates a high volume of waste, both organic and mixed.
- Reduce volume of food waste and mixed waste going to landfill
- Process waste quickly and effectively, reducing operational impact
- Lessen environmental impact
- Save money

Machine commissioned in early 2020
Implementing and commissioning
In the summer of 2019 Six Flags commissioned the first of a number of machines across their US estate. Our team undertook a site survey to understand the waste streams produced and ascertain the optimal systems requirements to deliver the best benefits for Six Flags.
We commissioned XO3 on-site in early 2020 tailored to the specific needs of the site, with a bespoke handling system and additional safety measures required by the park. Our training team provided on-site training for the site operatives to ensure the machine could achieve optimal performance.
The initial results of the machine have been great, with huge reduction in the waste collections needed by the park. The machine installed was more than capable of handling the throughput volumes and initial testing of the waste streams met all of the required EPA levels. The monitoring period demonstrated that the Advetec XO3 unit was effectively reducing the waste volumes by almost 80% within 48 hours.
Less pick ups
When it was first explained to me, it almost sounded sci-fi, but with future conversations, it made more sense. Bacteria is on everything. It's on our bodies, our walls, it's on everything. There are all kinds of bacteria, and different types break down biological things better than others.
