Delivering immediate impact for the Simon Tacoma Shopping Mall.
Mixed waste from the Food Hall can be a challenge when it comes to segregation.
Simon Tacoma was looking to implement a solution that would effect their environmental footprint and bottom line.
Our Customer
Tacoma Mall, part of the Simon Property Group, is a premier shopping and dining destination in Pierce County. Featuring more than 150 speciality stores, ranging from fashion brands to local favourites, it sees high footfall from local community, workers and tourists alike.
Tacoma Mall offers a variety of dining options, from full service restaurants like The Cheesecake Factory, BJ's Brewhouse, and Texas de Brazil to grab-and-go options like Chipotle Mexican Grill, Mix Poke Bar, and Panera Bread.

Implementing and commissioning
In 2018 our team was commissioned to perform a waste stream analysis of the Mall food court waste, this confirmed the suitability of the Advetec XO system achieving set objectives.
The XO6 system was implemented in the spring of 2019 and incorporated a conveyor load system to meet the handling needs at the Mall. Collection of the post process digestate is contained within a secure caged bin due to the open public nature of the Mall.
Results
In the first month of operation the number of waste hauls required on-site reduced by 66%, creating some very real immediate savings for the Mall. As a result of this initial implementation, Advetec are now working with the Group to develop a roll-out plan across the estate throughout the USA.

The integration with our existing waste management process worked perfectly. We quickly achieved our goals by reducing the volume of waste going to landfill as well as the cost - which enhances our commitment to the Mall policy on CSR and sustainability.
