Advanced biotechnology for better waste outcomes

Advetec’s innovative biotechnology combines advanced engineering with naturally occurring biological processes to stabilise difficult waste streams and unlock greater value from materials that would otherwise be disposed of.

By reducing waste mass and creating a dry, consistent output, our technology enables further recycling and resource recovery, including the production of Solid Recovered Fuel (SRF) where appropriate.

Turning Waste into Fuel - Advetec Technology
Our technology harnesses the power of naturally occurring biological processes, accelerated through clever engineering, to effectively “clean” non-recyclable waste streams.

Advanced Biotechnology

Advetec combines naturally occurring biological processes with innovative biotechnology to accelerate the breakdown of organic material within difficult waste streams.

Our proprietary blend of bacteria and biostimulants works within carefully controlled aerobic conditions to stabilise biodegradable material, reducing waste mass and preparing the output for further resource recovery.

Engineered for Operational Performance

The biology delivers the transformation, but engineering makes it possible at scale.

Our XO systems are designed to create the optimal conditions for the biological process to work effectively, using controlled aeration and carefully managed treatment environments to deliver consistent results.

Each system can be configured around your waste stream, throughput and operational requirements, helping integrate seamlessly into existing waste processing operations.

From difficult waste to recoverable resource

1 Waste stream testing

Step 1 Waste stream testing

We test your waste to ensure it is a good fit for our technology, and to ensure we’re able to modify the system to have the most efficient biology process, with a significant mass reduction.

2 Waste shredding

Step 2 Shredding waste

Waste goes through an industrial shredder to a pre-determined size.

This begins the process and ensures a consistent and optimum particle size enters the biomass.

3 Heating

Step 3 Heating and bacteria

The system heats the waste to kick start the bacterial activity.

Once optimum temperatures have been achieved the exothermic reaction self-generates the majority of the heat required. The heating system is then used to maintain the temperature above a minimum threshold for continual operation 24/7.

This creates resiliency in the system for periods of inactivity.

4 Biostimulant

Step 4 Biostimulant is added

Advetec’s unique bio-stimulants are added automatically.

This ensures a robust and strong biomass is maintained and allows for the system to cope with the inevitable existence of biocides and contaminates within the waste stream.

5 Rapid digestion

Step 5 Rapid digestion

Each Advetec XO system has multiple chambers.

These chambers are aerated to allow the aerobic process to flourish. The waste is indexed through the process, allowing for the addition of fresh waste at regular intervals.

6 Outcome: Floc

Step 6 Solid recoverd fuel (SRF)

The output material produced by the XO process is known as post-process floc.

With less moisture and significantly reduced organic content, the floc provides a consistent output that creates new opportunities for recovery.

Depending on the application, it can be used as Solid Recovered Fuel (SRF), or undergo further processing to recover recyclable materials and maximise value from every tonne processed.

Designed to maximise recovery

By combining advanced biotechnology with innovative engineering, Advetec helps organisations transform challenging waste streams into a stable, recoverable resource.

The process reduces waste mass, stabilises organic material and creates a consistent output that can support further recycling, resource recovery and alternative fuel production, helping customers reduce reliance on disposal and unlock greater value from every tonne processed.
