We’re Searching for Waste Innovators

The way we handle waste is changing, and innovation is key to staying sustainable, compliant, and cost-effective.

Advetec is on a mission to find businesses who are ready to join the Waste Revolution!

Advetec's unique mix of bacteria and engineering

Innovation Starts Here!

Our XO biotechnology systems use biology to tackle the toughest, organic-rich waste streams, from AD rejects and fines to washroom waste and contaminated packaging.

With Advetec XO technology, you can:

  • Reduce waste mass and volume — cutting disposal costs
  • Unlock recyclables trapped in organics for recovery
  • Produce a cleaner output suitable for Solid Recovered Fuel (SRF)
  • Meet bio-stabilisation standards — including AT4 compliance
  • Cut carbon and contribute to the circular economy

Join the Waste Revolution today!

You’re not just handling waste. With Advetec, you’re fuelling a cleaner, more sustainable future.

Our process step-by-step

1 Waste stream testing

Step 1 Waste stream testing

We test your waste to ensure it is a good fit for our technology, and to ensure we’re able to modify the system to have the most efficient biology process, with a significant mass reduction.

2 Waste shredding

Step 2 Shredding waste

Waste goes through an industrial shredder to a pre-determined size.

This begins the process and ensures a consistent and optimum particle size enters the biomass.

3 Heating

Step 3 Heating and bacteria

The system heats the waste to kick start the bacterial activity.

Once optimum temperatures have been achieved the exothermic reaction self-generates the majority of the heat required. The heating system is then used to maintain the temperature above a minimum threshold for continual operation 24/7.

This creates resiliency in the system for periods of inactivity.

4 Biostimulant

Step 4 Biostimulant is added

Advetec’s unique bio-stimulants are added automatically.

This ensures a robust and strong biomass is maintained and allows for the system to cope with the inevitable existence of biocides and contaminates within the waste stream.

5 Rapid digestion

Step 5 Rapid digestion

Each Advetec XO system has multiple chambers.

These chambers are aerated to allow the aerobic process to flourish. The waste is indexed through the process, allowing for the addition of fresh waste at regular intervals.

6 Outcome: Solid Recovered Fuel (SRF)

Step 6 Solid Recovered Fuel-(SRF)

The output material is called post process floc.

Typically, it has a moisture content of less than 15% (with organic matter reduced significantly during digestion) and has an increased calorific value.

Depending on the waste stream and customers’ requirements, the floc can be used as SRF (Solid Recovered Fuel) or be further process to have recyclable fractions e.g glass and plastics extracted.

The XO technology can be applied to various waste types

De packaged Waste

De-packaged Waste

De-packaged waste or Anaerobic Digestion (AD) reject waste consist of plastics, cardboard, and other food packaging materials mixed with organic residue. With high moisture content and a significant organic fraction. This waste type is typically found in:

  • Anaerobic Digestion (AD) plants

The Results

Once de-packaged reject waste has gone through our XO process, recyclable materials are now dry and ready for extraction. The remaining floc meets the minimum requirements to be classed as an SRF.

Organic Fines

Mixed residue from the mechanical treatment derived from the separation of municipal solid waste and sewage sludge from municipal wastewater treatment plants, currently processed for disposal as wastes. Typically sub 60mm size fraction. Sources:

  • Municipal waste
  • Waste Water Treatment

The Results

Once organic fines have gone through our XO process, they are stabilised to meet AT4 landfill requirements, meaning they won’t biodegrade any further. There is also the possibility of an SRF offtake, as they could be blended with another material.

Offensive Washroom Waste

Offensive Washroom Waste

Non-clinical offensive waste includes sanitary products, nappies, tissues, and paper towels that are high in moisture, resulting in heavy, ammonia-rich, and odorous waste. Sources include:

  • Facilities
  • Entertainment
  • Education
  • Care facilities
  • Retail

The Results

Once washroom waste has gone through our XO process, recyclable materials are now dry and ready for extraction. The remaining floc meets the minimum requirements to be classed as an SRF.

Mixed Residual Waste

Mixed solid waste (MSW) or mixed residual waste (MRW) is the most prevalent form of discarded material. It is non-hazardous by nature and typically produced by the following areas:

  • Trade
  • Commercial operations
  • Domestic settings
  • Retail
  • Facilities
  • Entertainment

The Results

Once mixed residual waste has gone through our XO process, recyclable materials are now dry and ready for extraction. The remaining output is stabilised, meeting AT4 landfill requirements, meaning they won’t biodegrade any further.
